Mortuus, is a new theatre show by Infamous Arts celebrating ‘day of the dead’ rituals from around the world, tours this November
Around the world, November is a month of remembrance, from the Day of the Dead festival in Mexico, Samhain in Celtic tradition, to All Souls’ Day in Europe
Mortuus is a gentle new theatre show for all ages and families that takes us on a journey through global myth and folklore
Storytelling and puppets come together to honour the universal human tradition of celebrating the dead in this vibrant immersive storytelling theatre.
All around the world, November is a time for remembrance and celebrating the lives of people who have gone before.
In Mexico’s Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead) festival, people adorn private altars with brightly coloured flowers, sweet breads and personal items. In Japan, the Obon festival brings people together to celebrate their ancestors with prayer, dance and floating lanterns. And in Nepal, the Gai Jatra festival, people mark the loss of a love one by processing a sacred cow through the streets, accompanied by laughter and costumes.
Mortuus, explores these traditions for a family audiences, touring the Black Country this November, supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
Enjoy a creative workshop after the performance.
