About

Saturday 19 September 2026 marks the launch of the Canal Art Trail — the culmination of Smethwick Imaginarium, a year-long arts programme along the Galton Valley Canal.

Six commissioned artists — Juneau Projects, Beth Derbyshire, Jaskirt Dhaliwal-Boora, Anneka French, Sharonjit Kaur Sutton and Sarah Barton — have worked with Smethwick residents to create new artworks in photography, sculpture, poetry, performance and design, sited along the canal and at Smethwick Library and Brasshouse Community Centre.

Launch day brings guided walks, family workshops, boat rides and a community meal. Everything is free and everyone is welcome. The trail stays up until 31 October 2026.
