Alice Zawadzki by Garry Corbett

About

Presented by Friends Of Thimblemill Library in association with Jazz At Wolverhampton

Jazz At Wolverhampton is launching a brand-new initiative at the beautiful art deco Thimblemill Library, and we're delighted to present the first Jazz Night featuring Alice Zawadzki and Rob Luft.

Together they explore acoustic jazz, improvisation, and intimate musical dialogue with warmth, charm, and originality.

Alice Zawadzki is a vocalist, violinist, songwriter, and composer described by The Guardian as "a genuine original." Rob Luft is an award-winning London jazz guitarist whose virtuosity has been compared to legends John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Paco de Lucía.

Julian Joseph (BBC Radio 3) calls Rob "an extraordinary talent," while The Arts Desk praises Alice's "velvet suppleness and gutsy emotional power."

Alice's "whimsical hyper-creativity" (MOJO Magazine) draws on New Orleans jazz, gospel, classical violin training, and a lifelong engagement with improvisation, poetry, and global folk traditions.

She has earned recognition across both classical and jazz worlds, including a 2024 Royal Philharmonic Society nomination for Singer of the Year, and multiple nominations for British Singer of the Year at the Jazz FM and Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

Join us for a memorable opening night in this exciting new jazz series at Thimblemill Library.
