About

We are excited to be welcoming the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games to Sandwell and the wider region this summer. The Games take place from 28 July to 8 August 2022.

The new Sandwell Aquatics Centre is the only brand-new venue for the B2022 Games.

The new centre is now complete and will be hosting the swimming and Para swimming competition from 29 July to 3 August and the diving competition from 4 August to 8 August, meaning that the centre will be in use for all 11 days of the Birmingham 2022 competition.

The aquatics centre has been built to Games-ready specification. It includes a 50 metre Olympic-size swimming pool, a 10 metre high competition dive tower and a 25 metre dive pool, along with a temporary 50 metre training/warm up pool and 4,000 temporary spectator seats for the Games.

After the Games, the facility will be remodelled to create a state-of-the-art local leisure centre which will officially open to the public in spring 2023.

Once the facility becomes a public leisure centre its facilities will include:

A community swimming pool
