About
Codsall Coppice Local Nature Reserve (LNR) is in the Cradley Heath area of Sandwell and has over 2 hectares of mature, mainly oak woodland. It is one of two woodlands in Sandwell which are thought to be over 400 years old. The wood also contains some large wild cherry trees and a small number of the uncommon wild service tree, with hazel, hawthorn and other species also there.
In Spring, the woodland floor is carpeted with a spectacular display of bluebells, and wild garlic, or ramsons, can also be found.
Codsall Coppice, once part of a much larger woodland which included the woods at what is now Haden Hill Park, lies on a steep slope between Codsall Road and Trejon Road.
A series of paths, including a circular route link the entrance points on Codsall Road and Trejon Road, and lead the visitor around the reserve.
